There are less than 10 days left until February 14th, and our favorite venues are now ready with suggestions to make us drunk with wine and love. It has become a tradition for Bulgaria to combine the two holidays, and that way there is something for everybody. For our culture, Trifon Zarezan has much deeper roots and is perceived as the day when we feel that spring is not far away and we take care of the vines for the first time in the year. The men cut the grape arrays and then it’s time for a big feast with a lot of wine, of course. On the other hand, according to Catholic tradition, St Valentine is the patron saint of the Day of love - February 14th, but for several centuries this day has been celebrated by people from all over the world with different religions and cultures.
And here are our suggestions on how to have a great time on this emotionally charged day, whether you're in a relationship or single.
We start with something traditional or a dinner at a restaurant. Our suggestion this year is for a jewel recently discovered just outside the central city area. Surprise your significant other with something different and try the menu at Céstla vie. It has a choice of two different culinary temptations for starters, mains and desserts. Every Friday, as a complement to your dinner in the winter, you also get a glass of mulled wine with a tempting taste, and be sure to consult the staff for a suitable drink for the selected dishes. The gentle accompaniment of the evening will be taken care of by the talented musician Momchil Angelov with the sounds of his melodic acoustic guitar.
We suppose that if you are a parent without the help of grandmothers and babysitters, going out for dinner is a real adventure. Well, especially for the holiday, Ton Bonbon Taste The Fun Restaurant has also prepared a kids' activity. While mom and dad enjoy the interesting menu that combines dishes for him and her, there is Valentine's workshop for the little ones. The place also has a well-equipped children's center, so even the youngest have the option of at least an hour or two of fun.
The Plovdiv State Opera also has a great idea for spending the holiday for music lovers. There, you can really get yourself an unforgettable evening that combines a holiday cocktail with the comic opera Love Elixir. A raffle and a tree with valentines are just part of the surprise for the audience in the intermission of the show!
And if you feel like doing something unconventional and haven’t tried to challenge the artist in yourself, book your seats at the Dali Vino Art Gallery. Specially for the holiday of love and wine, they have prepared the picture "The world is for two" - diptych. Its two sides are drawn from two people on two separate canvases, but it can also be painted independently by selecting the preferred half. The end result is obtained after the two works are brought together. And best of all, the first glass of wine comes at the price!
We haven’t forgotten the single people, who can sometimes feel very neglected on this day, so commercially targeted only at people in love. To them from Otsreshta they offer "Games and wine for the single". This event will fill the day with different emotions and meeting lots of new people, so if you're in the mood for something different, experiment!
