Nostalgic - project of the artist Nikolay Marinov

Nikolay Marinov was born in Plovdiv. There he graduated from the Art School in 1985, and in 1907 studied Painting at the National Academy of Arts, Sofia, where he has been a teacher since 2009 so far under the Methodology for Art Gifted Children. Nikolay Marinov is Doctor of Art Studies, defended his doctoral dissertation on "Developing the idea of "children's art " in the second half of the XX century". Since 2011 He has also been a lecturer at Children's Art Resonance Resonance, Plovdiv.

"Nostalgic ..." is the last project of the artist Nikolay Marinov, specifically designed for space and specific atmosphere of Plovdiv Gallery Labyrinth... The project is inspired by both the relationship and the constant return of the author to his hometown of Plovdiv and the search for those events, images, colors, sensations that, although forgotten, inconspicuous and unconscious, are deeply rooted in each of us. The base foundation in the work of the artist are these "flashbacks", the nostalgia for something past and not fully happened, the original meaning of concepts, objects, words ... "Home", "Houses," "Trees" "Tower", "Marines", "Labyrinth", "Coast" are just some of the titles. The author paints most ordinary images and objects around us, but the audience always gets multiple options for viewing or empathy ... And that is because the superimposition of all these faces, dimensions, simple lines, spots try to correspond with that invisible essence of the individual, with the constant connection with Childhood, with the ability to see through the banalities of being, with the urge to travel and rediscover the world...

With the "Nostalgic..." Nikolay Marinov continues previous projects "Images, Spaces, Horizons" (presented in Gallery Seasons - Sofia - 2017) and "Back to Plovdiv" (featured in The Red Pony Gallery - Plovdiv - 2017). The "Nostalgic..." enriches the already known direction of development of the author by trying to shorten the distance not only by in-depth insight and presentation of artistic images but by searching for artistic dialogue, corrective and empathy.
