Dash The Effort & Tomorrow May Fall

One of the most active bands on Bulgarian scene - the progressive/metal-core band Dash The Effort will play at Rock Bar Download on Saturday. On June 27 they opened the Stone Sour concert in Sofia. Their support will be Tomorrow May Fall.

Swinging Tales: Prohibition ends at last!

The stormy years! Prohibition was declared. Secret bars (speakeasies) were opened where bartenders mixed cocktails to mask the alcohol. There was a universal swing fever! Music and dances, provocative and obscene for their time. Swing was a symbol of hope. Swing became a style and a lifestyle... This happened in America in the 20s-40s of the last century. Now everything is allowed.

At the glamorous Swinging Tales series this week, you'll be able to try the new Gingermenu with "prohibition" cocktails, and the stormy dancers of Lindy Hop Plovdiv will take care of the mood.

Forest and Town - Exhibition by Petia Deneva and Teodora Doncheva-Tech

"Let's slip into the labyrinth of our consciousness-subconscious to look for the visions that excite us and move the layers of archetypes piled up in our genes. This is the adventure we jumped into, we - the authors of this exhibition - Petia The Forest and Tech The Town, thus bringing closer the contrasts of our selves.

The forest is alive. It shelters the memory of life in its hair. It sometimes reveals its secret paths, lets through, throws light over its hidden signs for the travelers to see while passing on their way from town to town.

The town is alive. It shelters the earthly chaos of minds and fates. Sometimes it recalls the forest, whose land it has taken, feels it in its walls and then it starts raining and the games of the kids remind the town of the wind that swirls the young leaves.

The forest secretly passes through the town. The town may have taken the forest's land but there will be always something in it to bring up the memory of the forest."

Petia Deneva was born in 1981 in Balchik, Bulgaria. In 2006 shed graduated the National Academy of Art in Sofia with specialty Painting. At present, she lives and works as a freelance artist in Sofia. Since 2010 she has been a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. She has had 10 solo exhibitions so far as well as she has participated in many group art projects. Nature, light and the mystic manifestation of the spiritual are a major theme in her creative work.

Teodora Doncheva - Tech was born in 1981 in Plovdiv where she studied in the Art School "Tsanko Lavrenov" with Graphics. In 2008 she completes her Master's degree at the National Academy of Arts in the Scenography department. She has had 5 solo exhibitions so far and she has participated in many group art projects. In her work, she is mainly interested in the graphic arts and the comic. She likes painting what she sees on the inner side of her eyes.
