Exhibition "Advertising is the soul of commerce"
The exhibition "Advertising is the soul of commerce" was created by the State Archives and will be presented at the State Archives - Plovdiv as part of the program of the "Autumn Salon of Arts" of the Municipality of Plovdiv.
The exhibition presents nearly 800 advertisements, arranged in 27 panels and selected from newspapers and magazines. In style and mood, advertisements from the beginning of the 20th century are different from advertisements in the present day. They are lively, cheerful, cause a smile, create a mood. Taken together, the advertisements recreate the life of the city. The Bulgarian has traveled, but the world has also come to him. The exhibition features the names of a number of world-class companies that are still present on the Bulgarian market today.
The advertisements also arouse surprise - it turns out that our grandmothers cooked in Yen glass, used baking paper, swallowed weight loss pills, and in the summer they used sunscreen.

Annamarie Ola and Johnny Makam LIVE
European ethno music is coming to Plovdiv! The magnificent Annamarie Ola and the crazy band from Johnny Makam will mix two different cocktails of Balkan music on the Bee Bop Cafe stage. Come and try it for yourself!
Annamarie Ola
Bulgaria welcomes the return of the cult singer of Meszecsinka and Fokatelep. This time she comes alone and will present new songs that she has created over the past few years. Annamarie Ola is a singer, instrumentalist, composer and songwriter. Over the years, she has participated in various ethnic formations in Hungary, with which she has traveled the world. She captivates the audience with the diversity of her vocal techniques, witchy chants and the fabulous nuances of her voice. She is inspired by the traditional music of different peoples. Fans know her performances of many native songs such as “Vetre, le”, “U Stankini”, “Dimyaninka” and others. Annamarie has always felt Bulgaria as her second home and the upcoming tour is undoubtedly an exciting moment for her. After a number of awards won by the groups she has led, she is now continuing with solo performances. Bulgaria is the first country in which she will make a solo club tour. Curiosity will also be aroused by the wide range of instruments on which Annamarie Olà performs. Expect ecstatic dances, mysterious sounds and a flight with a cosmic feeling during the concerts of this exquisite ethno singer!
Johnny Makam
Johnny Makam is a crazy collective that lives in Toulouse. It is composed of musicians from Turkey, Greece and France. The group skillfully mixes Anatolian themes with rock, psychedelic and Balkan rhythms. The inspiration for the music of Asia Minor is due to the singer Ebru Aydin, who is a native of the Black Sea city of Trabzon. Influenced by Turkish rock music from the 60s and 70s, she skillfully intertwines her voice with the wide-ranging sound of the other musicians. We cannot fail to highlight the piercing saxophone of Yann Le Glat, who takes care of the powerful and cheerful energy of the group. Although he is originally from France, Yann learned Bulgarian and studied clarinet with native masters in Parvomay. In the end, the result is a cheerful musical crew that sets the hearts of the audience on fire and lifts them into the air with dancing.

The event program includes three extremely curious and beautiful works, which are premieres for the audience in Plovdiv. The concert is conducted by Borislav Yotsov, the composer's brother, and is part of the Autumn Salon of Arts in Plovdiv.
Hristo Yotsov is an artist with an amazing ability to mix different musical worlds. He is a virtuoso percussionist, but he is also a composer, arranger and teacher. He is recognized as one of the most creative and active musicians on the Bulgarian jazz scene, who constantly creates original music and new projects in which he actively attracts and supports young talents. In his works, he organically combines classical forms and jazz improvisation. He writes music for big band and jazz formations, but also symphonic, film and theatrical works. Although he is a jazz musician, his work shows a sense of belonging to the Bulgarian composer school. He skillfully uses instrumental themes inspired by the Bulgarian song tradition. He combines non-standard instruments in the orchestra and works with different musicians, and his music is characterized by movement, dynamics, color and emotion.
Program:
Hristo Yotsov - "Scorpion" - a piece for clarinet and string orchestra Hristo Yotsov, soloist Borislav Yotsov - clarinet

CLOSE UP
Alexander Sano, Luiza Grigorova, Bashar Rahal and Alexandra Svilenova enter a love quadrangle to seek answers to the questions:
Is there unconditional love? Do we choose to fall in love or does love choose us?
"Close Up" is a story that follows twelve love episodes from the lives of two women and two men, connected by invisible threads of passion and attraction.
From afar, their longing for love and happiness seems beautiful, trembling and romantic, but up close it can turn out to be a very cruel activity...
"Close Up" is a merciless dissection of love, garnished with lies, betrayals, jealousy, passion, tears and a lot of laughter.

Mono and the Stereos Back in Bee Bop
Mono and the Stereos is a newly formed young band that combines folk and rock with indie and country influences. The group came together in early 2025, and in just a few months it already has a series of successful concerts in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo, Plovdiv and Varna. Despite its short history, the band quickly gained attention with its energy and characteristic sound, and in the summer it steps onto big stages such as Buzludzha Fest, Varusha YUG, Kapana Fest, Rivers of Sofia, as well as the international Nisville Jazz Festival in Serbia.
It all began in the summer of 2024, when Mono met violinist Teodor Stoyanov, a meeting that shaped and gave momentum to the project's sound. In February 2025, the band took to the stage for the first time in full at Sofia's Pave club, along with brothers Svetozar and Kiril Slavchevi on bass and drums.

Vrazhalets Plovdiv
One morning, a vrazhalets arrives in a picturesque Bulgarian village and predicts to the mayor, the priest and the two most prominent girls that a river of gold will soon flow to them and someone with a fine craft will help them hide it...
Like all the naive people who are fooled for money, the elite quartet of the village grabs the bait and frantically starts looking for the photographer Mancho, convinced that he is the man with a fine craft and will help them get rich quickly. After they discover the mold for making counterfeit money in his photo, the mayor, priest Stayko, Tsveta and Bosilka are more than sure that Mancho will not refuse to take them as collaborators in his profitable work. And indeed, when they tell him that they have evidence of his criminal activity, Mancho admits to making counterfeit money, but unfortunately he cannot help them get rich because there is no more paper to print banknotes. In their desire to benefit from the photographer's gift at all costs, the mayor and the priest form a joint-stock company with the aim of raising funds for the paper, which is bought from Vienna. Almost everyone in the village joins this company, not suspecting that Mancho is a hardened swindler who will bring them not only to a beggar's hut, but also to the brink of despair. And after they send him away safe and sound with a full mattress of money, less than twenty days pass when a letter is received to Peño the bartender, in which Mancho tells his friend that he has never seen "friendlier people" than those in the village, and every single one of them becomes a caricature in some literary newspaper!

"THE SUGAR-BOX FAIRY" COMES TO PLOVDIV!
Turning a popular children's book into a theatrical performance was a great adventure for me. With all its thrills of delight, fear, enchantment, disappointment, new charms, discoveries, lessons, flights and falls... I wanted to push myself away from the book about the Vanilla Fairy and at the same time be true to the author and her spirit. I wanted a performance about the "adventure of growing up". About Philip and Vanilla and their slightly critical view of the adult world. About the longing for friendship, clarity, justice... about the wings of inspiration that you need. For the inspiration that fairies give. For the trajectory of the spirit that everyone can outline... as long as they find a FAIRY.

"The Prime minister’s wife comes to Plovdiv!
"Madam the Minister" was written by Branislav Nušić in 1931. In the middle of the Great Depression. An environment that the Balkans, for a number of historical, cultural and geopolitical reasons, seem never to leave. It's still a crisis, it's still gone, we're still screwed up and evil. At least we're not ugly. And we're almost not dirty. Or so we think. And we still dream, God willing, that we'll lead a fatherly band, fix the country. And in "no time at all". What other nations, under other circumstances, have achieved in a century, we do in a "five-year plan". And we finish it like a dog in a field. Just a little bit. In a pile for a penny.
Our heroine, the Minister, wakes up one day in a dream with her unpatched pants and while she wonders how to make ends meet, the irony of chance spits her out in the ministerial villages. And the same tale of the ladder begins...

"Sacral" by Ivan Milushev at the Vazrazhdane Art Gallery
On 14.10.2025, Tuesday, at 6 pm, the Vazrazhdane Gallery invites you to an exhibition of paintings "Sacral" by one of the most well-known contemporary artists in Bulgaria - Ivan Milushev.
You will be able to view the works live, in the gallery's salon, as well as on the website and on the gallery's Facebook page for the next three weeks - until 03.11.2025.
See more in the virtual album of the exhibition here: https://online.fliphtml5.com/djhgs/icgi/
Ivan Milushev is a wonderful graphic artist, watercolorist and painter. He has received numerous awards for his work.
Whatever technique he uses in his works, the result is always impressive. His characters are few - one or two figures, which are enough to contain the plots. Biblical postulates and mythology are almost always the author's favorites.
He has long found his own vision of man and the viewer always recognizes and welcomes the special figurativeness in the paintings.
Ivan is, in most cases, monochrome, but in watercolors the bright colors often sing.
Milushev is a mysterious artist and you don't feel how he conquers you.

We are about to meet Yanitsa Radeva's latest novel - set in the insignificant year of 1967, in a small town where people live, love, lose, remain silent and survive with the language of the era, but also in the secrecy of social stratification. Of winners and losers. Of former mistresses and current comrades. Of those who bear acceptable names and those who have difficulty adapting to the new system.

MASATSUGU HATTORI [avant-garde jazz, Japan] @ Bee Bop Cafe :: 14.10.2025
"Alarm Punk Jazz" again at Bee Bop Cafe. And again with a Japanese musical performance!
Half a year after heavenphetamine in Plovdiv we welcome the Japanese drummer, percussionist, experimenter and composer MASATSUGU HATTORI. For "Alarma Punk Jazz" 2025 was a strong Japanese year (with concerts by Akira Sakata 80th Anniversary Quintet, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Shingo Masuda and Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O.), and Masatsugu Hattori is not at all an unknown name for the Bulgarian listener/
Two years ago he made a short tour in our country with pianist Momchil Atanasov (Open Source Trio), where he presented both his solo performance and joint improvisations. Masatsugu Hattori is a drummer and percussionist who, in his solo concerts, combines the classic drum kit with xylophones and other record instruments, as well as synthesizers and electronic devices. He often invites other musicians open to experimentation on the spot to the stage. Over the years, he has also played with Yosuke Yamashita, Otomo Yoshihide, Roy Campbell, Piotr Damashevich, Viktor Benev, etc.
You can listen to his music HERE:

Special guest of the concert, especially since it concerns Plovdiv, is the pianist Zhivko Bratanov (Space Trio), who exactly a year ago participated with his trio in a special jam with the legend of Japanese jazz Masahiko Sato.

Epic of the Forgotten
by Ivan Vazov
Performance by DKT "Ivan Dimov", Haskovo
"Epic of the Forgotten" is a protest against post-liberation morals, when the struggle for benefits, privileges and enrichment begins to overshadow the work of the martyrs for our freedom - Levski, Benkovski, Kableshkov, the Volunteers of Shipka. That's why I'm making this epic. Has anything changed in 2021? The same morals for benefits, for power...
The three words of the title exhaust the reason for writing and the philosophical grain of the work: an epic of heroism and self-sacrifice.
