Traditionally, good weather is an incentive in the creative district for everyone to brave the outdoors and embark on new business ventures. Reconstructions and renovations begin as early as March, larger spaces are being opened, and by the time you turn around – there are already several completely renovated places that promise interesting tastes, aromas and experiences.
Barrel Wine Shop
The new place in Kapana will literally make your head spin with a fine selection and tasting menus that will immerse you in the world of wine and its magical flavors and aromas. Their concept is for it to be a combination between a shop and a restaurant, with a focus mainly on native wines and local appetizers. They’ve set themselves an ambitious goal - to prepare special tasting combinations that will reveal the rich aromas of Bulgarian wine, which is increasingly confidently winning its rightful place on the world wine and culinary scene. They are open every day, so afternoons are perfect for unwinding with a glass of chilled rosé and a delicious appetizer!
Green Library Bio Bar
They are well known to all Plovdiv residents, but for a long time their place in the creative district was in the process of renovation. Now they have a modern and up-to-date interior, many different offers such as Buddha bowls, homemade toasts, fresh salads and specially selected wines. In the Green Library Bio Bar, you will feel closer to nature and learn how to live together with it. Here you can try superfoods in the form of freshly squeezed juice or smoothies and enjoy raw cakes and desserts made with organic ingredients, without sugar, flour and artificial sweeteners. A recommended stop for all vegans and vegetarians in Kapana.
Maison Blu
First we remember it as a hostel, then until recently a restaurant with Mexican cuisine, but today you can't miss Maison Blu on Hristo Dyukmedzhiev Street with its blue awning and neat little terrace above the cobblestones. With a focus on wines and a well-curated selection of culinary offerings, the establishment is set to become a favorite stop for all lovers of drinks and slow bohemian evenings in Kapana.
Moon Bar
The shortest street in Kapana will also soon have its new place. The business has been for sale for several years, and now it has its new owners. Door to door with one of the few remaining pool clubs under the hills and party destination VOID, we are now waiting for a moon bar and its surprises.
A feverish renovation is also underway in one of the oldest commercial establishments in the Kapana district. Marukyan store has not changed its purpose since the previous political regime and actually bears the name of a famous Armenian family, whose ancestor came to Plovdiv from Turkey in 1925. It is located in the square known as Shirokoto, which is actually called Marukyan Square. The question here is, will it retain its function and remain one of the few different sites in the area, or will another bar or restaurant spring up in its place?
