We've walked you through some eco-trails in the surrounding area, revealed the best places to eat in the resort and the nearby town of Smolyan, and today we're going to dedicate our text to those of you who are fans of cycling.
Velopark Pamporovo officially opened its doors for the summer of 2024 and awaits all enthusiasts with renewed routes. There are 13 of them, of which 11 are currently open. They are suitable for all ages and have different levels of difficulty and purpose, such as: specialized downhill trails, beginner trails, family trails, training and skill improvement trails, as well as the only specialized trail in Bulgaria for the discipline of four-cross.
Every day from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. throughout the summer, the lifts are available to cyclists: PVL 1 from the Pamporovo Tourist Center to Studenets and PVL 2 from Studenets to Snezhanka. Both lifts are adapted for transporting bicycles, and the prices of lift cards and tickets remain unchanged from last year!
At Studenets square there is a fully equipped "bike" closet, where you can find bikes and equipment for rent, as well as a store with essential supplies. As of this year, it has been completely renewed and brand new Trek wheels are available on site in a variety of sizes and models suitable for lots of fun on the trails! In the immediate vicinity, there is also a specially designated bike wash equipped with water jets from Karcher. You can use the bike wash freely throughout the day and keep your bike clean!
For those who are coming for the first time or want to improve their mountain biking, professional bike instructors are also available to help you take your first steps in mountain biking, show you around the park or give you useful tips to improve your skills on the bike in technical terrain. There are different packages that you can take advantage of, and the requirements for participants and included services are detailed on the site.
The park often organizes specialized themed camps for cyclists of various levels, with popular ones for children, women and riders looking to improve their technique.
Many interesting and varied events are also planned for the season, kicking off with the return of the Bruce Lee downhill course in Chepelare to the downhill competition scene on 13-14 July.
At the end of the month, the 10th anniversary edition of Pamporovo Bike Fest will be held. It is traditionally one of the largest such events in the country and the region and gathers hundreds of cyclists from all over Bulgaria and all of Europe! This year, during the fest, there will be an UCI class 1 downhill competition, carrying points for the world ranking, a round of the Bulgarian downhill championship for adults and children, and for the first time there will be a musical program with an outdoor stage and live performers!
On the last weekend of August and the beginning of September, the traditional enduro competition Elevation999 will be held. This year it will once again test the skills and endurance of the participants to the limit.
