The Plovdiv Regional History Museum offers virtual tours on part of its expositions

Plovdiv is proud of its millennial history. It is absolutely reasonable and logical that such an old town has a historical museum and not one, but several buildings of it. After all, 8000 years would hardly fit into a single space, and the story that the Regional History Museum of Plovdiv will tell you is extremely interesting. It was established in 1951 as a scientific and cultural organization whose purpose was to search, study, preserve and present the cultural values of the past of Plovdiv and the Plovdiv region for the period from the 15th to the 20th century. The museum has an extremely rich fund, which has over 60,000 exhibits, including unique collections of cool weapons and firearms, orders and medals, military equipment, personal belongings, prints, clothing and objects from the city life, photographs and documents. The Regional History Museum - Plovdiv has four expositions - "Bulgarian Revival", "Book publishing in Bulgaria in the second half of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century", "Unification of Bulgaria 1885" and Museum of Modern History.

The exhibition Unification of Bulgaria 1885 is located in the building of the Regional Assembly of the Eastern Rumelia at 1 Saedinenie Square. The museum exposition was opened in 1985 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Unification of the Principality of Bulgaria and Eastern Rumelia - an event that has become a national symbol of our new history. The exhibition covers the period since the signing of the Berlin Treaty in 1878, which divided the lands populated by Bulgarians into five parts until the Serbian-Bulgarian War of 1885. The main accents were on the construction and development of Eastern Rumelia as the second Bulgarian state, the preparation and implementation of the Unification with the Principality of Bulgaria on September 6, 1885.
