We’ve gathered several well-established institutions that combine quality education with care, inspiration and attention to detail, while also covering the full educational cycle

More and more parents in Plovdiv are looking for an educational environment that does not simply prepare their children academically, but also develops their personal qualities, independence and confidence. Private nurseries, kindergartens and schools in the city offer exactly that - an individual approach, modern teaching methods and an atmosphere in which every child can unlock their potential.

We have selected several well-established institutions that combine quality education with care, inspiration and attention to detail, while also covering the entire educational cycle.

Private Kindergarten “Andersen”

Starting this March, Private Kindergarten “Andersen” is expanding its activities and will now also offer a nursery group, another opportunity for parents seeking safe and high-quality care for the youngest children.

In today’s rapidly evolving educational environment, “Andersen” has established itself as a modern space that combines high academic standards, an individual approach and attention to the child’s overall development. The kindergarten welcomes children aged 1 year and 6 months to 7 years, building a strong foundation of knowledge, skills and confidence from the earliest stages of education.

The learning process is based on a proprietary program approved by the Ministry of Education and Science, which builds upon the national curriculum. The approach focuses on advanced learning combined with the development of logical thinking, creativity and emotional intelligence.

A special emphasis is placed on early English language learning through a program developed by Oxford University, providing a strong linguistic foundation from an early age.

The program includes:

  • development of mathematical and analytical thinking

  • creative activities — arts, music and interest-based workshops

  • building social skills and independence

  • targeted preparation for first grade

The kindergarten features a modern infrastructure specially designed to meet the needs of children and fully compliant with all safety and comfort requirements.

Facilities include:

  • spacious and modern classrooms

  • a gymnasium

  • sports playgrounds and outdoor areas

  • dedicated outdoor learning and play zones

Security is ensured through controlled access and video surveillance.

The team consists of qualified professionals with experience in preschool education who closely monitor the individual development of each child.

Additional support is provided through:

  • medical care

  • speech therapist consultations

  • daily feedback for parents

Special attention is also given to healthy living — children receive balanced and diverse meals four times a day.

The core program is complemented by a variety of extracurricular activities including sports, arts and educational programs that help develop children’s talents and interests.

The kindergarten is a member of the Bulgarian Association of Private Schools, an organization that brings together leading educational institutions in the country and encourages the exchange of best practices.

“Andersen” is not simply a place for learning -  it is an environment where children grow confident, curious and happy, receiving the attention, support and opportunities they need to develop their full potential.

Private Montessori Kindergarten “Valshebstvo” (Magic)

Private Montessori Kindergarten “Valshebstvo” opened its doors in 2019 with a clear mission — to provide quality education and upbringing for children aged 2 to 7.

Its philosophy is inspired by the Montessori method of Maria Montessori, where the child is placed at the center of the learning process. The environment is calm and harmonious, encouraging independence, freedom of choice and the natural development of each child.

Education here is viewed as an art, a process that follows each child’s individual rhythm, interests and abilities. At “Valshebstvo”, the team believes that every child is unique and deserves attention, support and the opportunity to explore the world at their own pace.

The environment is carefully prepared to stimulate curiosity and independent work, while teachers encourage children to become active participants in their own learning journey.

Additional activities include:

  • arts -music, dance and visual arts

  • English language learning

  • sports

  • chess

  • connection with nature

If you are looking for a place where your child can grow in a calm atmosphere, with respect for their individuality and excellent preparation for school, “Valshebstvo” is certainly worth considering. The kindergarten is located in the Central district of Plovdiv.

Private ECO School “Sunray”

Sometimes the most beautiful projects begin as a personal mission. This was the case in 2008, when the idea for the Private ECO School “Sunray” was born. The name itself was suggested by the son of Mrs. Maria Paeva. Nine years later, in 2017, the dream became reality,  in the southern part of Plovdiv, at the foot of the Rhodope Mountains.

Created on the initiative of Mrs. Paeva, the school is a long-term project built with personal dedication and a clear philosophy for more humane and conscious education. The building was designed according to the principles of Vastu architecture and sacred geometry - a space in harmony with nature that supports the natural development of children.

“Sunray” offers education from preschool groups (3rd and 4th) to 7th grade. Starting from September 2026, the educational center will also include a kindergarten accepting children in first and second preschool groups, allowing the educational journey to begin from an even earlier age.

In the upcoming 2026/2027 school year, the institution will celebrate its tenth anniversary while expanding its facilities with a new third floor, a large library, an additional gymnasium and a special creative studio dedicated to traditional crafts such as weaving, felting and embroidery.

The educational process expands upon the national curriculum using the methods of Prof. Dr. Georgi Lozanov and Prof. Dr. Evelina Gateva, as well as the philosophy of Peter Deunov for harmonious personal development. Project-based and problem-based learning are strongly integrated to encourage creativity and research skills.

For the youngest children (aged 3–4), a combined model integrating Sun pedagogy and Waldorf pedagogy will also be introduced.

Education is conducted in Bulgarian with intensive English language learning, and from grades 5 to 7 students also study Russian as a second foreign language. The school also operates as a preparatory center for Cambridge certificates.

Alongside academic education, “Sunray” places strong emphasis on Bulgarian traditions and customs, as well as on nurturing children’s talents through creativity and art.

Here, the goal is not simply to acquire knowledge, but to shape thoughtful, aware and confident individuals — in an environment where nature, tradition and modern education go hand in hand.

Maple Bear Plovdiv

The world’s largest educational network, Maple Bear, is opening its doors this autumn in Markovo for children aged 5, 6 and 7. Enrollment is now open for preschool and first-grade students. The program is full-day and bilingual, in Bulgarian and English, with a strong focus on the active participation of children in the learning process.

The teaching model follows the Canadian education system, which consistently ranks among the top performers in the PISA assessment for functional literacy. The program is combined with Bulgarian state educational standards, allowing for a smooth transition within the national system if needed.

The focus is on critical thinking, teamwork and future-ready skills, encouraging children to participate actively in a variety of learning formats and environments. Parents are also active partners in the educational process, and their feedback plays an essential role.

Maple Bear Plovdiv offers an international standard of education combined with local educational stability and excellent preparation for a global future from the earliest school years.
