We're reviving our column dedicated to everyone who has chosen our city as their home, with Prasanna Tamilarasu, who has successfully embraced Plovdiv’s laid-back "ailyak" vibe for over a year now.
He has lived in many places over the years, but his work brought him from his native country India to Bulgaria. Since he was born on the ocean shore and, as he says, he is "tired of beaches," Burgas and Varna were automatically excluded as options, and he found his place in Plovdiv.
Here are some of his favorite spots:
When friends visit Plovdiv for the first time we go to… Kapana area, the cobblestone streets, the Old Town, and the hill.
When it’s party time I go to…Well, I am not a party person at all!
The most underrated place in Plovdiv is…”The Family Coffee Roasters” Café; it is not touristy, it is on the other side of the main street.
A place in Plovdiv that always impresses people is… Kapana!
For delicious food I usually go to… “Pavaj” - for the best ribs, the meat just falls off the bone!
The coolest place in the town is… “Cat and Mouse” Bar and Coworking.
My alternative route in Plovdiv is… Along the riverside of Maritsa River.
My least favorite thing in Plovdiv is… People who smoke everywhere.
