The cultural calendar under the hills is once again packed with exciting events, and now is the perfect time to plan your visit

 

The team of the bilingual digital guide has compiled some of the most interesting events to help you organize your schedule in advance and prepare for 12 months full of diverse experiences, musical encounters, and countless opportunities for entertainment.

In our weekly "What to Do in Plovdiv" topics, published every Friday on the website, we offer an updated selection of the most exciting events, where you can always find information about upcoming theater and opera performances, exhibitions, and large-scale concerts. Today, however, we have prepared a few key highlights not to be missed.

We start in April with another edition of Plovdiv Vibes – Transformations, held at various locations, bringing together popular events from Plovdiv's cultural life in a unified platform for creative performances. At the end of the month, the 6FEST Street Arts Festival begins, always impressing with breathtaking performances in open urban spaces.

Traditionally, May is one of the busiest months for events and an excellent time to visit the city under the hills. You can immerse yourself in the world of poetry under the umbrella of ORPHEUS – PLOVDIV 2025 or join the International literature festival LETERAPOPULI. The second weekend is reserved for Wine and Gourmet Parade, and later, don’t miss performances during the spring edition of Music Days at the Balabanov House. Additionally, you can enjoy Spiritual Routes in Plovdiv with themed tours. The month wraps up with a Craft Fair, a festival for song, theater, and contemporary dance, and finally, the Children’s Day celebration in the Old Town. And we haven't even touched on the European Night of Museums and Literature, Austrian Music Weeks, Chamber Music Festival, or European Music Festival.

June is reserved for Disco Music Fest, Francofolies 2025, and the musical forum Plovdiv Music of the Ages. Events like The Path to the Top and Lost in Hills on Bunardzhika Hill, the marathon of sport and culture Tepe Djambure, and Jazztopia in Dondukov Garden will also take place.

Hot July will feature the Dream Theater concert, the massive rock festival Hills of Rock 2025 at the Rowing Canal, and the International Folklore Festival.

August brings Defile Weekend in Plovdiv and the start of the 12th International Photo Salon 2025.

September offers plenty to impress. From the National Autumn Exhibitions, Stage at a Crossroads, and the Old Town Festival to the Days of Argentine Culture and Art; rock and comedy festival, and the autumn editions of Music Days at the Balabanov House and Spiritual Routes.

October is the time for you to find time to visit the City Wine Festival, Cinelibri, and the International Photography Meetings.

While in November the highlights include the Plovdiv Jazz Fest, Young Wine Parade, and Cinemania (Kinomania).

In December, immerse yourself in the festive Christmas and New Year’s program, featuring various events throughout the month. The Old Town hosts a Crafts Exhibition with works made  by children and a Christmas Crafts Fair.

Make sure to set aside a few days around these events to stroll under the hills and relax in Kapana. Visiting Plovdiv is always a feast for all the senses!
