Brunch with a Bulgarian twist, Italian, and Greek cuisine will tempt you and immerse you in a world of culinary delights

This fall, Plovdiv continues to enchant food lovers with new locations, where you will be able  to discover and explore new intriguing flavors. The digital guide "Lost in Plovdiv" which keeps a close eye on the city's gastronomic scene, is already ready with three fresh recommendations for the new season.

La Cucina Kapana

The menu here is an inspiring mix of Mediterranean classics, an original take on Middle Eastern cuisine, and a tribute to beloved Bulgarian dishes. True to Kapana's style, the new owner of the former "Tables" – the experienced international chef Mishlav Masalha – has infused his concept with the trend of multicultural cuisine.

Fans of a late breakfast can enjoy classic brunch options from world cuisine, like Eggs Benedict, Eggs Royale, and avocado toast. For admirers of Bulgarian flavors, there’s a modern take on the beloved Bulgarian banitsa, made with authentic aged sheep’s cheese. However, you’ll also find a wide variety of other offerings, including well-loved salads, main courses, and desserts.

They now offer a daily lunch menu based on Bulgarian recipes, just as our grandmothers or mothers would have prepared it.

Taverna “Dunias”

"Dunias" is the first Greek taverna in Southern Bulgaria. The restaurant opened its doors back in 1996. Driven by the idea of something different and unprecedented at the time, the owners launched their family business in order to introduce Plovdiv residents to authentic Greek cuisine.

The taverna thrived for years, gathering many fans of delicacies from our southern neighbor, until it closed down after the pandemic. Today, it has been revived in a new, beloved location in the Kapana district and promises to further enrich the variety of flavors that they offer.

Pizza 52

Fans of Italian cuisine also have a new place to visit under the hills. One of the people involved is a favorite face from the popular cooking show "Bon Appetit" – Stoyan Seimenski. The official opening took place just a few days ago. As a true Plovdiv resident, opening his own restaurant had been Stoyan’s dream for a long time, and it took over a year to bring the idea to life.

Here, you can try crispy pizzas, various by-the-slice options, and irresistible Italian sandwiches with focaccia. There is also a small, charming garden which is part of the restaurant - a delightful little oasis on Plovdiv's main street under the hills.
